Hi, my name is Andrew and I have been a Mentor with Engage! for about 18 months. I have been a volunteer for a number of years with other organisations. I am a Riding for the Disabled riding instructor and run a Sunday school at a local church. I was introduced to Engage! at a volunteer’s event in Lichfield Cathedral. I had been thinking of mentoring for a while before this so the event was perfect for me! Engage! are a very well run and professional organisation and have provided well run, focused training. I mentor at King Edward VI and feel well supported by both the organisation and the school. So, do I enjoy mentoring? Absolutely! I started with two kids and now mentor four over two afternoons. They are brilliant, fun, interesting and sometime challenging and working with them makes me feel younger. I feel really privileged that I can spend the half hour with them and share their lives and perhaps talk about things that they can’t talk to anyone else about. I love mentoring these kids and would, and do, recommend it to anyone.
